Public Speaking Debating Workshop with Ben Hall

JCI Limerick is delighted to invite you to our Public Speaking & Debating Workshop with Ben Hall, taking place on Saturday, 24 October 2026, from 15:30 to 17:30 at The Boardroom, 101 Limerick.

Public speaking and effective communication are valuable skills in almost every area of professional and personal life. Whether you are presenting an idea at work, speaking in front of a group, participating in a discussion, making a case for your point of view, or simply looking to become more confident when communicating with others, developing these skills can make a meaningful difference.

This workshop will provide an opportunity to explore the principles of effective public speaking and debating in a practical and engaging environment. Led by Ben Hall, the session will focus on developing confidence, structuring ideas clearly, communicating with purpose, and responding effectively in discussion and debate.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn practical techniques and put them into practice through interactive activities and exercises. The workshop is designed to be accessible to people of different experience levels, so you do not need to have previous debating or public speaking experience to attend.

The session will cover areas including:

  • Building confidence when speaking in front of others
  • Structuring and presenting ideas clearly
  • Developing persuasive arguments
  • Communicating points effectively and concisely
  • Thinking on your feet and responding to different viewpoints
  • Developing active listening and discussion skills
  • Understanding key principles of debating
  • Practising public speaking in a supportive environment

The workshop is intended to be practical rather than purely theoretical. Participants will have opportunities to engage with the material, practise communication techniques and receive an experience that can be applied beyond the event.

Who is this workshop for?

The workshop is open to anyone interested in improving their public speaking, communication or debating skills. It may be particularly useful for students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, JCI members and anyone who wants to become more confident when expressing their ideas.

No previous experience is required, and you do not need to consider yourself an experienced public speaker to take part. The workshop is designed as a learning environment where participants can develop their skills at their own level.
